I Want To Be That 1% - 5 Quick eBay Store fixes

Did you know that 99% of eBay Stores are not set-up correctly?

Here are 5 quick fixes to help make your Store part of the 1%.

How to save 75% off your Final Value Fees

By now you have set your Store up correctly and you possibly have a funny sounding Store name…i.e. Auction Profit Education Consulting. Which is fabulous for your Search Engine Optimization, but horrendous for your branding. And your eBay Store URL, www.stores.ebay.com/auction-profit-education-consulting definitely doesn't fit on a business card and no customer is going to remember it. What to do? This is probably my favorite trick to use in my eBay business and surprisingly one of the least known among eBay Store owners... (& remember, just go through this slowly, step-by-step…you can do this!!)

1. Go to GoDaddy and buy a domain with your business name (or something similar) and having to do with your business. Mine is www.JanelleElms.com. NOW you have a shorter URL that brands your company's name AND your customer's can easily remember it.

2. While in your GoDaddy account, click on Domains on the top left hand corner, and then in the pull-down menu click on My Domain Names. Up will come your purchased domain name(s).

3. Click the box next to the URL you bought for your eBay Store. Then click on Forward Domains. (see image below)

4. In the next box under the forwarding tab, please click to ‘enable' forwarding (see image below). You are going to redirect your Go Daddy URL to your eBay Store URL with a referral id. Wait, wait…all you whose eyes just glazed over…let's walk through this step-by-step.

Your GoDaddy URL (the website domain you just purchased), in this specific example is www.businessagogo.com. It needs to be forwarded to your eBay Store's URL (www.stores.ebay.com/auction-profit-education-consulting). You can go to your eBay Store and copy and paste the URL into the Forwarding box on GoDaddy. Your eBay Store URL will look something like: www.stores.ebay.com/auction-profit-education-consulting

Now you need to add a ‘referral id' to the end of that url. Your referral id, if you want www.businessagogo.com to forward to the front page of your eBay store when a customer clicks that link, is ?refid=store.

Add ?refid=store to the end of your Store's URL. Your complete forwarded URL looks like this (well, except you might want to use YOUR Store URL instead of mine, although I would love the additional traffic!):

www.stores.ebay.com/auction-profit-education-consulting?refid=store

Finish this section by clicking ‘301 Moved Permanently' for the redirect type

Now let's finish this up...

Click on the ‘Masking' tab and do the following (see image below):

Click the ‘Mask domain' box (this allows you to add keywords to this domain redirect)
Choose a ‘Masked Title' – you can see from the example that this is a short sentence filled with keywords. Remember, you can purchase the powerful 4+ hour CD, Profitable Keyword Training to assist with these very important keywords.
Fill in the ‘Masked Description Meta Tag' box – This is a short sentence explaining what your site is about (again filled with keywords).
Fill in the ‘Masked Keyword Meta Tag' box – This is where your ‘Profitable Keywords' are used once again. These keywords should be separated with commas.

Then, over on the right, click OK, and then click OK once again on the processing page.

See…easy!

Now when your buyers type in www.businessagogo.com it automatically goes to your eBay Store. Try it…type in www.JanelleElms.com – see…you didn’t stop there; you got redirected straight into my eBay Store.

By doing this you are branding your business name and still taking advantage of the Search Engine Optimization in your interesting eBay Store title. Now, www.businessagogo.com can easily be on your business cards, email signature, magnets and other marketing collateral. Your customers can easily remember you & get to your Store…But, you are also saving money…

eBay will give you 75% off your final value fees when you send buyers into your eBay Store from an outside source – which www.businessagogo.com is – and they make a purchase. If your typical monthly final value fees are $400, now, with your redirect, they could be reduced to $100!!.
