So I spent the last week writing a very long, five page lecture about how
I feel about the eBay Stores
Fee Increase. Well,
to be more exact, how I felt about all of the stupid
people who are fussing about it – oops, that didn’t
come out very nice.
And, neither did my 5 page lecture (I was REALLY
mad)…which is why I decided to not include it in this
newsletter. If
you are a member of the eBay
Success Group newsletter, you already know how
valuable an eBay
Store is – you have heard me say it a million
times, and probably more important, you have at least
good basic business skills to weather typical business
fee increases. If
you think you NEED to be lectured about the
eBay Store Fee Increase, then holler, and I will
shoot you a copy of my ‘ranting and raving
soapbox’…but otherwise, I felt if I provided you eBay
Store guidance, instead of yelling, it would be much
more constructive for all parties involved.
Plus, the people who really need to be lectured
on their lack of common business sense don’t realize
this and wouldn’t be in a place to hear what I have to
say anyway.

Ads the other day to get an update on how things are
going. “We launched at eBay Live to see the response, and it has been
wonderful,” Ali said.
“Most search engine marketing is out of reach
financially for most businesses and we wanted to
automate all of this for the eBay sellers.”
He said the have a very diverse portfolio of
customers who sell everything from real estate, to
clothes, to shoes to DVD’s and more.
Signing up with Smarty Ads
was easy – took no more than 3 minutes to go through
the sign-up process and the funding of your campaign
through PayPal. After
a few days I received an email from Smarty
Ads with my recommended keywords, as well as my
marketing messages.
I recommended to Ali that they email their
sign-ups immediately after they sign up to let them know
a timeline – after a few days I was starting to wonder
if they had received my information or if I was supposed
to be doing something.
The keywords were great as were most of the
marketing messages.
One of the messages wasn’t quite what I wanted
to say about my products and I adjusted that one.
You know your product better than they do, and
that is why they send them to you first to double check
the information. I
am now waiting for them to submit these keywords to
Google and we’ll see what happens!
If what they promise, does truly happen – that you can have a 3rd
party easily manage your pay-per-click campaigns for
your eBay Store…then they will be geniuses and very
successful. I
will report back in next month’s newsletter how things

They just recently released a report of the 4
hottest jobs. One
of them is a Search Engine Optimizer – obviously you
can’t stick your head in the sand anymore about these
‘new’ technical terms.
Everyone from amazon.com
all the way down to the new mom & pop e-commerce
sites must understand what search engine optimization
is, as well as s.e.m (search engine marketing).,
p.p.c.(pay per click), pfp (pay for performance) etc.
You not only need to know what these terms mean
and their unique difference, but how to utilize them in
your e-commerce business model.
Prosper has been so much
fun learning about.
Tom of
Tallzagauctions was the first in our group to apply
for a loan for his dealer’s license for his business.
His request for $4500 started at 9%.
His loan was fully funded within 6 hours!!
After the auction finished in 7 days, his listing
had received 98 bids, and his lender rate had come down
to 8.5%. Congrats
Tom!
And I have been having so much fun funding loans for other entrepreneurs.
I can see why Day Traders become hooked – this
is incredible. I
am now the winning bidder on two loans – one at a
11.41% rate, and the other is a 12.4% rate – more than
twice what my bank is currently paying on my
investments. Fingers
crossed, I have another loan that closes tonight that is
currently at 13.99%!
So I am in love with this company and their idea.
They are still working out some of the
communication tools, but the ability to get and make
money is fabulous. I
have recommended that Prosper
send an email to the group leader when someone in that
group applies for a loan (I will loan money to all the
people in my group who apply for a loan).
I also would like to be able to sign up to be
notified when someone from another group applies for a
loan. My
fellow eBay U instructor and dear friend Michael
has a group – I would love to be able to support
his members when they want to borrow money as well.
These are minor things compared to how wonderful
the lending program is and Prosper
has assured me that they will be constantly rolling out
updates to this new program.

got to spend last Saturday with my friend Tom
(www.tallzagauctions.com)
going ‘organized junk yard’ shopping as I call it.
We headed down to the Boeing
Surplus Store in
Kent
,
WA
.
(Now, no worries if you don’t live in
Seattle
…check
your city for your own Surplus stores – most have
them.) Where
else can you find a working flashlight for 10 cents,
magazine filing folders for .25, I got a whole ream of
pink paper and Tom
scored an incredible standing white board for $20!!
The Bruders
(www.indulgeyoursoul.com), from our PowerSeller group
bought their computer from there.
Boeing also had a 12 foot long light table, power
tools, computers, every type of office furniture you
could imagine, rolls of industrial fabric, and SO much
more. It was
heaven. You
could source for things on eBay all day long
there….especially if you know about computers – they
had row, after row of computers, monitors, fax machines,
overhead projectors (currently listed on the Hot
Items Report) etc.
Two things I found that I think are goldmines
were: 30 yards of Velcro for $5.00 - these were huge
rolls of Velcro…boxes and boxes of them.
On eBay, I found a listing that was for 25 yards
that went for $35! Holy
Cow!! Maybe
I should go back down there and get these – LOL.
The other one was a roll of double-sided
‘tape’. It
was almost 2” wide by 540 yards for $10.
Obviously used for something industrial…but I
am thinking the crafters would be in heaven with this.
A quick research check on eBay shows that a
listing for 1/2” wide by 36 yards of double-sided tape
went for $24. One
roll of the other tape from Boeing has 15 times more
tape than this! Great
shipping tables - I even found a kitchen sink.
They get in 2 new shipments a day.
Bring
along a way to research the prices before buying though,
as Boeing has a ‘no refund’ policy in place.

this part only pertains to the PNW, but wanted to give
you a heads up! Earthwise,
an architectural salvage firm in
Seattle
is having a HUGE sale (I so love snooping around their
bulging two stories of ‘stuff’ on a great

rainy day). All
non-consignment pieces have been cut by 10-50%!
This includes stained glass, lighting fixtures,
wrought iron, doorbells, mantelpieces, and more.
The 12,000 sq ft building they are currently in
has been sold and will be demolished.
They have a new location 4 blocks away, but
really don’t want to move their current inventory.

you may already know, many salvaged architectural pieces

has now partnered with Equifax in the battle against identity theft. If you have a PayPal account, you can register to receive Equifax Credit Alerts. These alerts let you know when someone opens a financial account in your name, or if a significant change occurs on a credit/financial account. For Free!! Very cool. Also, once register, this alert program will include ALL of your financial
accounts, not just PayPal AND they have an Identity Theft Protection Hotline available to people who think they may have been victims of identity theft.
Here are the easy steps to sign up:

to your fabulous items on the SYI form, Turbo Lister, as
well as 3rd party listing tools (same area as
Gallery).

Let’s say you were selling Ipods, then you
could ‘connect’ with other eBay sellers who were
selling Ipod accessories. When a buyer bids on or wins
an item belonging to you or the other seller, both your
items and the other seller's items will be promoted to
the buyer. To
send a request to ‘connect’ with another seller (you
can have up to 10), log into your My eBay, and scroll
down to Marketing Tools.
After clicking Marketing Tools, click on
Connections under Item Promotion.
Then request away.

After hearing people tell me repeatedly that they
never have enough time in their days I decided to show
you some time-saving tricks to use in your business.
All of us have the same amount of time in our day as Gandhi, Steve Jobs,
Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, Oprah, Bill Gates,

The difference…all of these people have used
that same 24 hours given to each of us, to change the

One
of my favorite tips on saving time is to look at common
things you do and write them down for a few days…bank
trips, grocery store, post office, etc…keep track of
how much extra time these cost you.

2 hours? More?
(don’t forget driving time and gas) Now
multiply that by $250 an hour – that is ‘at least’
what you are worth as an entrepreneur.
Now, if you can do it cheaper and faster
somewhere else (or by using someone else) shouldn’t
you? I have
recently fallen in love with Amazon’s
Grocery store. I
used HomeGrocer when they were still ‘alive’ and
miss them terribly.

life.

The reason why we women Mastermind is to help each other grow exponentially (It’s about time that history remembers some great women’s minds so let’s give them ours!) Sometimes it’s difficult for us to see how we’re going to possibly reach our goals. Each month one of us exposes ourselves by sharing our brilliant ideas, deepest fears and secret desires about our business to the group because we need the support. We rely on the other members of WIN to offer expertise, critiques, ideas, suggestions and direction. We trust that the other members will be there to support us. In turn, we will support them when it is their turn to share.
Successful Masterminding is dependent upon everyone’s participation and requires that we hold each other to a high standard of excellence. We must demand the best of each other. What’s paradoxical is that not only the subject of the month grows but the participants do as well. Everyone comes away with something of value. It may be a newfound respect for another member, an idea that helps our own development or a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
By Masterminding as a group, we create an environment that is safe and supportive and we help each other in our quest to be the best that we can be.
Again, this group was founded, not on the idea of selfishness – ‘how much can I get for MY business’, but on the idea of female empowerment and support. In order to fulfill this part of the charter of this group, we must join together to grow and completely, without hesitation, support one another in all things.
